Well, since I got my American Express card back in October, I’ve already earned over $200 towards our plane tickets for our trip next summer – thanks to bonus points if I spent $3k in the first 6 months! :) That makes me very, very happy.
I use my Amex card for everything I can, and I’m surprised at how many places take it. So I always ask if they take Amex before using my MC/Visa or debit.
In case you’re wondering, I have that American Express Blue Sky credit card. There is no annual fee, and zero travel restrictions.
Just by carefully managing the way I use my credit cards, I’ve been able to help us save on our travel expenses. For free!

I'm very curious to know how you manage your c.c's as you say. Do you pay it off immediately after you purchase something? And do you use your cc's for everything and then your debit card is last priority? I've paid off 3/4 of my cc in a few months thanks to you and FB so I'm thinking about getting some kind of rewards card to use RESPONSIBLY (for once) in the future :)
Yes, usually my debit card is last priority unless it's for some silly purchase that's only a few dollars. I use my credit cards for everything and then pay it off immediately when I get home. I used to pay it off every day, but then decided that was a little ridiculous so I do all of my personal finance stuff a few times per week, maybe once a week if I'm busy.
All 3 credit cards I have are earning me points in some way. If you do get one, make sure to get one without an annual fee! Those are expensive unless you spend a TON of money every year.
With my Amex card, I just cashed in for $500! :)
