Thinking about playing hockey this fall

Yesterday was a gorgeous day and I mentioned that we should start hitting around the hockey ball more often now. BF agreed, and then said that since I now have a car, I can probably play hockey here in Vancouver as well. I hadn’t even thought of that! I am SO excited now, after not being able to play at all this past season.

I almost played for a Vancouver team this past year – but found it too difficult to get to all of the games and practices – which could be in Surrey or Port Moody or North Vancouver or anywhere on the Lower Mainland – any day and time of the week. Plus, since field time is so valuable, most teams practice quite late at night during the week. The team I was going to play for practiced from 9:30-10:30pm at night about a 2 hr. transit ride away from where I live. And I wasn’t about to take public transit that late on a weeknight.

Now, all I have to do is find a team. I’ve contacted a club in the area where BF lives, so hopefully I can squeeze in. Their website says that registration is closed for the fall, but maybe they’ll make an exception since I have a lot of experience? Fingers are crossed.
