So today I have to take out the $$$ to buy my car. And then I have to figure out ICBC insurance for the car. Because of the car accident, BF dropped from 12 years of safe driving down to 8 years. Not that it matters to him anymore because he doesn’t have a car. However, because he has dropped below 10 years, I think that affects the insurance I get for the car. Because we’ll be living together now, I believe I have to buy extra insurance for him. My mom said it was only an extra $100/year, but I guess I’ll find out today. And my adjuster said that there wouldn’t be any change to my safe driving discount (I think I’m at 6 or 7 years right now), and nothing will show on my driving record that would go against me – just that I had been in an accident before. Which I didn’t think was fair, but the adjuster said that’s just how ICBC rolls.
I was also thinking of buying one of those anti-theft steering wheel locks for my car, since I don’t have an alarm or anything. Does anyone have one? I didn’t have one for my old car, but it would be nice to have. I don’t know much about them, but I assume I can just grab one from Canadian Tire or something for relatively cheap.
