Yesterday after work I was famished so I went to Subway and bought myself a footlong veggie sub ($5.99). BF didn’t get off work until 8:30pm, and I wasn’t going to wait that long to eat! I was really craving Subway for some reason. As soon as I got back to my apartment, I devoured it. Usually I have trouble finishing a 6-inch sub, so I was really impressed with myself. When BF finished work, we walked to Safeway so he could grab some dinner, and then we went back to my house and watched Role Models. Such a guy’s … Continue reading
Hilary posted this comment in response to my last post, Some thoughts about money. I agree that it is good to spend your hard earned money and I certainly don’t judge you. However, I have been reading your blog for years now in order to inspire myself to save more, spend less but with reading about your recent purchases, all it makes me want to do is buy new ski gear, concert tickets, go on trips, too, etc. and I am not as motivated to read your blog anymore as when you were a spendthrift that I want to be … Continue reading
NOTE: this is a sponsored post I found out yesterday that a girl who graduated college a year ahead of me – is now unemployed and living in Vancouver. She got laid off from her job. Yikes. I told her I’d be on the lookout for potential openings anywhere, but it’s tough. There is so much competition and very few job postings. And … Continue reading
I am getting excited for trips coming up this summer. And all of them are fairly frugal (besides the cruise). Climb Grimface Mountain (5 days) – BF and I plan on doing this over the Canada Day long weekend! Rock climbing in the Bugaboos (3-4 days) – I think BF and I will do this over the August long weekend. Camping on Galiano Island (weekend trip) – TBD with BF. Random trip up island (day trip or overnight) – with my sister. We always just start driving and end up somewhere random. Last year it was Courtenay/Comox/Coombs. The year before … Continue reading
Last night we went skiing after work. It was a lot of fun, despite feeling a bit woozy. It might have been from not eating much all day, then scarfing down a light dinner, then driving (I get car sick really easily). At any rate, I started to feel better once I got going. And I think I’m finally getting the hang of it. I need to be a lot less timid. I want to go fast, but I’m scared of bailing. I need to learn that it’s not the end of the world to fall down. After skiing, we … Continue reading
