March Goals: My Review

Below is my budget recap for March. As you can see, I didn’t do too badly all things considering. $432.30 of that Miscellaneous was my ski boots (I took the $$$ out of my Travel Fund to pay for them). So I really only went over by $58.44.

Besides the ski boots, I went over on my budget by treating BF out to dinner a few times in order to make up for not paying for gas, and then actually paying for $30 worth of gas. I’m glad that I did, because I haven’t bought gas for him in so long. I just need to adjust my budget to include that kind of expense in the future.

Oh, and I bought 2 pairs of Arc-teryx hiking shorts for $9 each (regular price around $75!). Not budgeted, but too good of a deal to pass up. Especially with the summer approaching.

March Goals (end of month review):

  • Work out 5-6 days per week. FAIL! In total, I worked out 11 days in March (some days I worked out twice, so I actually had 16 work out sessions). Not bad considering I was sick for a week. But I really should have been more consistent.
  • $300 into Retirement Portfolio. CHECK!
  • $600 into Travel Fund. CHECK! Because I’ve been able to do this consistently for a few months now, I’m permanently upping my contributions from $275 bi-weekly to $300.
  • Do something social with friends once per week. FAIL! I did something social with friends 3 of the 4 weeks. The only week I didn’t was when I was sick. I had social things planned, but didn’t feel well enough to do them. Boo!
  • Stay within $100 travel budget. CHECK! I actually adjusted my travel budget midway through the month, when I realized I would only be traveling once. So I spent $24.72/$25!
  • List at least 3 things for sale on Craigslist or eBay. FAIL! I listed my Flight of the Conchord tickets on Craigslist, and that’s about it. Although I could list my scooter up again on Craigslist tonight, since the buyer unfortunately had to back out. But that would still only bring me to 2 of 3.
  • Organize all my tax paperwork. It takes forever to get all of my statements. CHECK! Everything is organized and all my calculations have been made. I just need to make an appointment to get them done!
