Expected money coming in

In the next week or so, I should be getting $125 from BF (for the gym membership), and $120 from my friend on Saturday (owed to me from the Neil Young concert ticket, and the Norm MacDonald show we’re seeing this weekend with my sister). The $125 I’ll put on my Visa card to go towards the membership fee, and the $120 will probably get put into the Emergency Fund.

The end of the lunch streak

So today marks the end of my lunch streak. Since the end of November, I have brought my lunch to work every single day. But this morning when BF dropped me off at home, I took a look around and realized I didn’t have a single thing I could have brought for lunch. No cans of soup, no fruit, no bread – nothing. Thankfully, I got a Tim Horton’s gift card for Christmas … so I’ll just run over to Tim’s and buy a soup and sandwich for my lunch. So, at least I’m not spending money on lunch. :)

So. I was just cruising around CBC.ca when I came across this article. Basically, Tourism Queensland is offering someone $100,000 US to live on Hamilton Island for 6 months and make weekly photo/video blog posts of their experience online, as well as speak to the media about their experience on the island. Besides the crazy amazing salary, the job comes with free accommodation … Continue reading

The Big Trip: Emergency Fund

So like I said before, our budget for this year-long trip is going to be about $10k each. After talking with a bunch of different people who have done this kind of trip before, plus my aunt (who is a long-time travel agent), and BF, I really really think it can be done on $10k. We will just have to be suuuuper smart with our money – AND I think we’ve decided to basically bypass all of Europe (besides taking the train through it to get to Russia) in favour of spending more time in SE Asia. Plus, we’ll probably … Continue reading

My cable doesn’t work

I can’t get my cable to work on my TV. I ordered the Shaw digital receiver (for an extra $3 per month for clearer picture/sound and 40 extra channels), and last night BF and I tried to figure it out. It’s all hooked up correctly, but it’s just not working. And after spending over 20 min. on hold with Shaw, I gave up. VERY frustrating. I’ll try to call them today to see if they can help. Reasons why I ordered the receiver? I’ve heard AMAZING reviews about it, and since I have an HDTV, this seemed like a good … Continue reading
