Yesterday I went grocery shopping and spent $54.50 (!!!). I can’t remember when I’ve ever spent that much on groceries before. Then again, I haven’t gone grocery shopping since before Christmas, so I was low on basically everything. The local Asian grocery store wasn’t open, so I had to buy my produce from Safeway – not impressed. In the afternoon, I baked 2 loaves of banana bread. My stove SUCKS. Seriously. It’s the original stove, so it’s at least 30 years old. My bread came out slightly burnt on the outside and slightly undercooked in the middle. The same happened … Continue reading
Ugg. We got an extra 12 inches of snow over the past day or so. Not happy. At first the snow was fun, but now I’m just angry. Today I’m going to curl up on my couch, cross stitch and watch TV. Then in the afternoon I’m taking the SkyTrain to meet BF and we’ll go rock climbing. I still haven’t renewed my membership yet, and that’s going to be about $125. That’s if BF pays for half of it (climbing is something we always do together, and since he gets in for free, he has been paying for half … Continue reading
I really want to get a part-time job. I know what you’re thinking – I’ve talked about getting a PT job before, and that never resulted in anything. Plus, I already have a PT job. And that’s true. But it only brings in between $45-80 per shift. And since I only work once or twice per month, that money is eaten up by the cost it takes to travel there. So the PT job I have really doesn’t bring in any income that I can see. And, it’s coming to an end as of April. Or May. I want a … Continue reading
I treated BF to dinner last night in celebration of 2009. Since we didn’t spend any money going out for NYE, I figured it would be okay to go out. We went to a Chinese restaurant by his house, and after tip the bill came to $31.35. We also had enough left overs for our lunch today. I’m kind of disappointed that I started off 2009 by spending money dining out, but as long as I’m sticking to my budget I’m okay with it. Speaking of budget, FB over at Fabulously Broke in the City has created some sort of … Continue reading
New Year’s Eve was uneventful. Actually, it was pretty much how we spent NYE last year too. Just staying in, watching movies and playing games. What did you do for New Year’s Eve? Yesterday when we woke up, we had a lazy morning. We watched Canada vs. USA in the World Juniors, and then the Winter Classic game. BF made me breakfast and then we played a game of Scrabble. He destroyed me. But I’m getting better. I think we’re going to go to Toys R Us or Walmart sometime soon to build on our board game collection. I’m pretty … Continue reading
