Yesterday I went grocery shopping and spent $54.50 (!!!). I can’t remember when I’ve ever spent that much on groceries before. Then again, I haven’t gone grocery shopping since before Christmas, so I was low on basically everything. The local Asian grocery store wasn’t open, so I had to buy my produce from Safeway – not impressed.
In the afternoon, I baked 2 loaves of banana bread. My stove SUCKS. Seriously. It’s the original stove, so it’s at least 30 years old. My bread came out slightly burnt on the outside and slightly undercooked in the middle. The same happened with the pies I tried to bake a month ago, and I’m really hesitant to bake cookies in it now – after I bought all the ingredients. It just doesn’t bake food evenly, and it’s driving me crazy.
I’ve already gotten my landlord to fix one of the stove top elements, because it wasn’t working. And I want to complain again, because baking is something I love to do … but I really don’t think I have a valid case. I can’t really prove that it’s the stove that’s causing all my baking to come out crappy. He could argue that it’s just me being a bad cook.
