Weekend spending: more than anticipated

This weekend of camping was supposed to be cheap, but it ended up being more expensive than I had anticipated! It was worth it though because Galiano Island is so beautiful, and it was our anniversary weekend.

First, we didn’t realize that it cost money for the return trip back to Vancouver. With the ferry to the Sunshine Coast, you only have to pay one-way, and the return trip is free. Apparently not so with the Gulf Islands. So that was an additional $30. Plus, I treated BF to breakfast on our last day there. That was $32. Expensive, but that’s the price of island life, I guess.

Total cost of the weekend for me was about $115. Not bad for travel, food & accommodation for 2 nights. But, definitely more than I had anticipated spending. Oh well. It was my own fault for not reading the BC Ferries website properly.

It rained most of the time we were there. Although, Friday night was dry – which was nice b/c I absolutely DESPISE setting up tents in the rain. And Sunday was gorgeous – sunny and perfect. Plus, the water was crystal clear and that beautiful turquoise blue. We toured the island, checking out Montague Harbour, Lover’s Leap, The Bluffs, and Bellhouse park. And we determined that in the summer, we are DEFINITELY coming back for a weekend. We’ll walk on the ferry (way cheaper), and camp at the walk-in sites.
