So, in the spirit of saving more money, I have decided not to buy my lunch anymore, starting now for as long as I can go. I used pack my lunch for months at a time, but I guess when it becomes a habit to buy lunch every now and then, you don’t really think about it.
Usually, I end up buying something once a week, but that’s just out of pure laziness. And, that doesn’t even count the snacks that I buy from the corner store. Which isn’t that often, but it all adds up. Sometimes I’ve even packed my lunch, but going across the street and getting a sandwich and a hot bowl of soup sounds more appetizing.
That is all stopping now.
AND, this will force me to get into the habit of buying my groceries on a regular basis. Because I’ve been gone so often on the weekends, I haven’t had the motivation to go shopping until Tuesday or Wednesday, and by then … what’s the point of buying groceries for 2 days, if I’m just going to be leaving again on the weekend?
I miss the old me. The one who was able to save $4k/month by working 2 FT jobs. And I never want to go there again (that was just insane), but I was a lot more disciplined with my saving. I think that talking about my goals definitely helps. I’ve already started tightening up my spending now that we’ve been talking about our travel plans together. It makes it more real.
