The perfect pair of boots

I have been on a never ending search for the perfect pair of black boots. I have skinny ankles and massive (muscular) calves from years of competitive sports. It’s the worst combination, because not only do my humongous legs not fit into most boots, but when I can actually stuff them into a boot and pull the zipper all the way up, the leather ends up bunching around my toothpick ankles. And that just looks stupid.

But this weekend I found them (on the model in the picture). The greatest pair of black boots I have ever laid my eyes on. They fit PERFECTLY and felt like a dream. But you know what didn’t fit perfectly? The price tag. The $220 price tag, and they were on sale, down from $250! Ugg.

Usually, I would have just sucked it up and bought them – because honestly, it’s not every day you find the perfect pair of boots. And I can afford it. But I don’t need them. Oh, I want them. Don’t get me wrong. But I have a pair of black boots at home. The leather bunches at the ankles, and they’re not quite the right height … but I’d rather live with bunched up leather ankles and save that $220. If I had $220 in my chequing account right now, I’d throw it into my Travel Fund just to make a point to myself, but I don’t.
