Blogroll update November 28, 2008
Posted by gmbmfb in : blog , add a commentAlright, so I couldn’t wait for Blogrolling to come around, so I just made my own Blogroll, which looks basically the same.
I deleted all of the outdated links (blogs that haven’t updated in over a month), and my next step is to add all of the people that have requested a link exchange. I just want to let you know that I don’t add ALL of the link exchange requests I get. I generally add most of them, but I’ve been declining blogs who aren’t writing about personal finance.
If you were previously on my Blogroll but I accidentally forgot to add you to my new list, please let me know. :)
Thanks for your patience.

Applying for my passport November 28, 2008
Posted by gmbmfb in : travel , add a commentI am finally getting my act together and applying for my passport. I’ve filled out the paperwork, but I can’t find the passport photos I had taken of me about 3 months ago. I’m going to have to go back to London Drugs and get them taken again, which is a pain and a waste of $10. Oh well.
Then, I have to mail the paperwork and the photos to my guarantor back home. Who then has to mail it back to me. Once I’ve received all of it, I will have to take a few hours off of work to go down to the passport office in Surrey.
I need to get this all done in the next couple of weeks, because I won’t be able to go to the Caribbean in late February if I don’t get this taken care of.

Declined a return trip to Vegas November 28, 2008
Posted by gmbmfb in : travel , add a commentA friend of mine just broke up with her long-time BF of 5 years, and she asked if I wanted to go to Vegas with her in January.
I declined. Not only do I not have the vacation time, but I just don’t have the money. Which is too bad, because I would have loved to go away with her. I had originally invited her to come to Vegas with me and my friend when we were planning the trip, but she said she didn’t have the money at the moment and couldn’t find another friend to go with.
So instead, we’re planning to hang out more often. I told her that I was trying to save up for a few things, so I wouldn’t be able to do anything too expensive. She said she understood, because she was trying to save for Christmas as well.
Speaking of traveling, I really, REALLY need to get my passport application in.

GMBMFB interview November 27, 2008
Posted by gmbmfb in : blog , add a commentBack on November 23rd, I was interviewed by FB of Fabulously Broke in the City. She has an awesome blog that I read regularly.
You can read my interview HERE.
Thanks, FB!
P.S. Oh, and this is a picture of the Canadian Tuxedo I was talking about in the interview. Except, missing the red plaid overcoat. :) It’s basically jean pants with a jean jacket/shirt.

Norm Macdonald: LIVE November 27, 2008

For more than 10 years, my sister and I have held the firm belief that Norm MacDonald could quite possibly the funniest guy on TV. We loved him on SNL (Weekend Update, and as Burt Reynolds on Celebrity Jeopardy), and we’ve watched all his movies (Dirty Work remains one of our all-time favourite movies), his (short-lived) TV shows, and most of his broadcasted stand-up comedy acts.
Not everybody shares our feelings about Norm. In fact, most people think he’s kind of dumb. BF doesn’t really like him, which is weird because we generally have the same sense of humour (he thinks The Three Amigos is the greatest movie ever, and I didn’t even crack a smile during that movie). But I think Norm’s delivery and timing are priceless, and he doesn’t really get the credit he deserves.
Anyway, he’s coming to the River Rock Show Theatre in January, and my sister said she would go with me, and buy me my ticket as part of my Christmas present ($63)! I somehow found the pre-sale Ticketmaster password, and we are sitting IN THE FIRST ROW. Close enough to get heckled by him! Another friend of mine who is cool enough to appreciate Norm is also coming with us. I’ve never seen live comedy before, so I’m really, really excited. Especially because the reviews I read about his last show in Vancouver were fabulous.

Giving a present early November 27, 2008
Posted by gmbmfb in : relationship , add a commentI am such a loser. Because I didn’t have anything to physically give BF for Christmas (I bought him Canucks tickets, and he already knew about it), I decided to buy him a wallet. His old one was tattered and really worn out. I can’t say how much I spent on it, but it wasn’t an outrageous amount. It’s a nice wallet though.
But for some weird reason, I felt like I couldn’t wait to give it to him. And I didn’t. I think I ended up giving it to him the day after I bought it. I just wanted him to have it, and I wanted to give him a present.
So, now I officially have nothing to give him for Christmas but a big kiss and my love.

Gobble, gobble… November 27, 2008
Posted by gmbmfb in : miscellaneous , add a commentHappy American Thanksgiving. :)
BF and I missed Canadian Thanksgiving last month because we were off hiking that weekend, so I’m especially jealous of everyone out there who gets to eat turkey with all the yummy fixings. My stomach is growling just thinking about it! My parents are hosting the big family Christmas this year, so I’ll get my fill of turkey then … but still.
Last night I did a major clean-up of my apartment. I just haven’t had the time over the past month or so, what with traveling every weekend … and by the time I get home every day after work and cook dinner, it’s already too late for me to vacuum (I’m totally paranoid that I’m making too much noise in my apartment). Plus, most nights I hang out with BF anyway. It’s nice to have a clean, organized apartment again. It makes me feel way less stressed out.
After I cleaned, I watched Red, White & Brown, the new Russell Peters DVD. I personally think he’s great … but this DVD isn’t as good as some of the others I’ve seen him in. I got lost with a few of the jokes, and his timing was a bit off. Still, there was a lot of new material that was ridiculously inappropriate and hilarious.
Anyway, this evening we’ve got to go to MEC, and then hopefully rock climbing. It depends on BF’s shoulder. He couldn’t do much on Tuesday, so we’ll see.
