Well I’m back in Vancouver after an exhausting long weekend in Ontario.
I rolled into Toronto at around 7:30am on Thursday morning (now I remember why I don’t fly the red eye). Thankfully, my hotel let me check in early. So I took a 45 min. power nap, had a quick shower, and it was off to the Hockey Hall of Fame! One word: AMAZING. What an incredible place. I picked up a Christmas present there for BF’s brother – about $40. After that, I did the SkyDome guided tour. It was awesome to get to talk baseball with the tour guide, but the only lame thing was the stadium had already been converted from baseball to football. :(
Thursday evening, I met up with an old friend of mine. It was pouring rain, so we sought shelter in a coffee house – then it was off to dinner, then to his house to watch a bit of the debate on TV, then dessert. It was nice to see him again. Wish I could have spent more time there.
Friday at around noon, I hopped on a bus to Windsor. There, my friend from Michigan met me, and we went to the Red Wings/Maple Leafs pre-season game. We ate at a local Red Wings pub, and I finally got to see Joe Louis Arena. The amount of banners they have up is pretty impressive. After the game, we drove 3.5 hrs. to a tiny town in Ontario, where the wedding would be the next day.
Saturday was the wedding ceremony and reception, and both were so beautiful. My friend looked gorgeous, and seeing her and her husband together was amazing. They are perfect for each other. :) She said that they’re probably going to move to Vancouver in the next little while, so I’m excited for that to happen.
Sunday, my friend dropped me off at the bus depot, and I took a bus back to Toronto. I checked out the CN Tower, walked around, and perused the little cafes and bookstores downtown. It was exhausting! At around 5pm, I took a cab to the airport.
The flight was so long. I didn’t get into Vancouver until after midnight, and BF and I didn’t get home until around 1am. Although, he was a lot more tired than I was.
Anyway, I haven’t figured out how much the trip cost me, but I’m pretty sure it was more than what I had budgeted. It was pouring rain much of the time I was in Toronto, so I opted to take taxi cabs and the subway instead of walking around.
How was your weekend?
