Getting my trip to Ontario sorted out September 17, 2008
Posted by gmbmfb in : spending, travel , trackbackSo I just booked my hotel for the wedding in Ontario. An old college friend is going to be my date for the wedding (we haven’t visited in 4 years, so it will be nice to catch up while I’m in the area). It’s $159/night, and we’re staying for 2 nights (Friday/Saturday). Ouch. I might try to find a different hotel to stay in for the first night. And I still need to book a hotel for myself in Toronto for Thursday night.
Basically, I’m flying into Toronto and then hanging out with a friend on Thursday. Friday I need to somehow get from Toronto to Detroit. Any suggestions? So far all I can think of is the Greyhound ($75 for a one-way ticket), but I’m really sketched out and don’t want to get stabbed and decapitated. I also know there’s the train, but that stops in Windsor – and it’s not practical to rent a car because I’ll be driving back to Ontario with my college friend. Is there some sort of shuttle? I know there are ones Windsor-Toronto … but that means I’d either have to walk across the border (can you even do that?), or have my friend cross the border to get me in Windsor, and that’s not reasonable.
Anyway, once I get to Detroit, we’re going to go to a Red Wings/Maple Leafs pre-season game. I hate both teams, so it’ll be interesting to figure out who to cheer for. Then after that we’re driving for about 2.5 hrs. to get to where the wedding is going to be the next day.
And I still have to figure out how I’m going to get from where the wedding is, back to the Toronto airport. I would assume that there are shuttles or some sort of bus service. But I guess you never know.
