Viewing an apartment today

Well, I’m going to go view an apartment today after work with BF. It’s about 5 or 6 blocks from where I work, in a very quiet area of town, right by a park. And I love how everything is within walking distance. Literally, within a 5 minute walk is a grocery store, the library, a park, a drug store, restaurants, etc. It’s a great location.

The rent is $725/month, which is a little higher than I wanted to spend … but it’s so close to work, and I wouldn’t have to buy a bus pass (rent + bus pass = $675 per month right now).

There’s a nice courtyard in the middle, and the unit is on the quiet side of the building. There’s a beautiful balcony, hardwood floors, and is much bigger than my current place.

My only concern is that it’s on the 2nd floor in a 3 floor building … meaning I’m sandwiched … and that’s exactly why I’ve always hesitated in living in an apartment building. I always feel like I’m living in a box.

Oh, and another concern is that the apartment is available for October 1st … whereas I was really looking for something for November 1st. So if I took it, I’d have to figure some stuff out since I have to give my landlord 1 month notice. Perhaps I can give notice on Sept 15th, and then I’d only have to pay 2 week’s worth of double rent … and that would give me 2 weeks to move in all of my crap.

Anyway, I’m excited to go see this place.
