BF and I were casually talking about what we wanted to do for New Years. I’m not a big party person anymore (last year the two of us watched movies, drank a bottle of wine, and ate Chinese food) … and honestly, the last thing I’d want to do this year is go out with a bunch of people. It’s just too much – too crowded, too expensive, too overwhelming.
New Year’s Day is on a Thursday, so if we both took the Friday off, we’d have a 4-day weekend. He suggested going hiking – perhaps Cape Scott on the island. I suggested a road trip, and we got on the topic of perhaps driving to San Francisco. We’ve both never been, and we both want to go. If we left Wednesday after work and slept a few hours on the way down, we’d get there Thursday sometime. That way, we’d have 2 full days in the city (Friday/Saturday), and then we’d drive straight back on Sunday. He estimated it would cost about $500 for gas – so $250/each isn’t that bad. We would bring a tent and camp, so we wouldn’t have to pay for accommodation costs … so it’s possible to do this trip without spending a lot of money.
It’s not anytime soon, so we have time to think about it. Either hiking or a road trip sounds good to me. Although, I suppose it doesn’t matter what we do, as long as we spend NYE together – it’s about starting a brand new year with the person you love (awwwwwww).
In the meantime, I’m going to the island for a wedding in 2.5 weeks, Toronto/Detroit in less than a month, and Las Vegas in 9 weeks! :)
