I’m annoyed. For the September wedding, I asked the bride when I would have to be at the resort (up island) for her wedding rehersal. She said Friday evening. So I went and bought tickets to see the Raconteurs on Thursday night with a friend in Vancouver.
A couple of days ago, I got a letter from her in the mail saying that we would have to be at the resort by 11am on Friday at the latest – and the bridal party should be there earlier. Argg! Even if I took the earliest ferry on Friday morning, I wouldn’t be able to make it there on time. Especially since I have to pick up my friend from the airport.
I managed to sell my Raconteurs ticket this morning, but my friend that I was supposed to go with is now mad at me, since he was supposed to stay with me that night.
So. BF is now letting me borrow his car to take over to the island on the Thursday evening. This means I don’t have to rent a car (which would have cost around $250 for the weekend).
Friday morning, my friend and I will drive up to the resort for the wedding rehearsal, the lunch, and the BBQ dinner. BF will come up that evening after work, and I’ll be able to pick him up from the ferry terminal. Then the actual wedding is Saturday at 11am (weird time for a wedding, IMO).
We were originally going to stay at my uncle’s place for both nights … but because the wedding is so early on the Saturday morning, we are definitely going to stay at the resort for the Friday night. Depending on what exactly happens on Saturday (I still don’t believe the wedding is that early), we could either drive back to my hometown (2.5 hrs away), stay at my uncle’s (30 min. away), or stay at the resort for another night. Right now, the reservation is for 2 nights at $150/night for 3 people. It’s a 2-bedroom cottage … so for $50/person, that’s not bad. I had to put down a $150 deposit, and have up until 2 weeks prior to the wedding to cancel with a full refund. So we’ll see.
