The 2nd interview

Well, I don’t know what to say. I’m really disappointed.

The interview went okay. Kind of awkward. It was about 45 minutes long. The Director seems cool – he likes personal finance, fly fishing, and Ryan Adams. :) But … when I was with the HR woman in her office, she said that this position is most likely a step backwards in my career in terms of responsibility and salary. She’s only been there for 3 weeks, and apparently she read the salary grid wrong when I was doing my initial phone interview with her last week. Even the highest amount in the salary range for the position is $3k shy of what I’m making at my current job. And even though the company is a lot cooler than the one I’m with right now, I don’t think I’d be willing to take a step backwards in my career, or a pay cut (where the starting salary is $10k less than what I’m making now – ouch!).

Anyway, she said that she would get in contact with me either today or tomorrow with their decision. They narrowed the 2nd interviews down to 3 candidates, so the only have 2 more interviews to do today.

So, yeah. It’s kind of a let down, but I’m still applying for other jobs out there and hopefully I’ll have a new job by the end of the summer.
