The grocery woes continue

Yesterday I went to the grocery store, and $46.48 later, I came out with about 10 days worth of food. I’ve been finding I’m not shopping every week – rather I go on when my soy milk expires (the label says 5-7 days after opening … so I figured 10 days was still okay, but no more than that). Reasons why this grocery bill was so expensive? I bought a bag of brown rice (my sister bought me a rice cooker/steamer for Christmas), and a jar of artichokes. In retrospect, I could have done without the artichokes. They were the … Continue reading

A Million Bucks By 30: by Alan Corey

In late November, a guy by the name of Alan Corey e-mailed me. He’s the authour of a new book called A Million Bucks By 30. It was released on January 1st I think. He explained that he read my blog, and that his book has a similar theme to my blog – personal finance in your twenties, and that what he wrote about was quite similar to my financial goals. Anyway, he promised to send me a free copy of his book, and today I got it in the mail! I just finished the introduction, and it’s pretty funny. … Continue reading

This past weekend was great! I had a fantastic time in Vancouver with BF. I got to meet his family, and a lot of his friends. We had a really quiet New Year’s Eve. There were some parties that we could have gone to, but instead we ate leftover Chinese food, rented a few movies and shared a very unclassy 1.5L bottle of cheap (yet delicious) red wine. It was a perfect evening. P.S. for anyone who hasn’t seen Hot Rod yet, starring Andy Samberg, it’s HILARIOUS. We were both pretty shocked at how that movie could have fallen through … Continue reading

January 2008 Monthly Goals

These goals are getting repetitive, but writing them down for everyone to see is going to keep me accountable for them … and hopefully (fingers crossed), I get a job this month so I can switch it up and start making goals with numbers and figures attached to them. It’s really hard to try and make solid goals for myself without a steady stream of income. January 2008 Monthly Goals: GAIN FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT. If this goal is realized by the end of the month, my secondary goal is to find PT employment. There are certain criteria to having a PT … Continue reading

December Goals: My Review

Wow, was it just me, or did December completely fly by? It seems like just last week I was writing out my December goals … and I’m doing a recap on them already. Crazy. I’m looking forward to January, and settling back into some sort of “normal” routine. As normal is it can be for a freelancer, that is. I hope to finish up my current contract by the end of the month – sooner, if I get that job and end up moving to Vancouver. December Goals (end of month review): GAIN FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT. This sort of happened. I … Continue reading
