I got called for 2 more interviews today: A part-time position in Vancouver with a recreation association … and that is something I’m very interested in. The PT position would be around 21 hrs/week, and has a salary of about $27,500 (or just over $25/hr). Having a PT position doesn’t necessarily bother me, because it just means I can open myself up for other opportunities I wouldn’t be able to take if I had to work FT hours – like finding a PT job with a sports team over there, and commuting to keep my PT job at the arena … Continue reading

The job interview in Northern Alberta

Well, I survived the 4 hr. drive to the interview and back … although it was sketchy. The roads were maintained a lot better than I thought they would be, but it was snowing pretty hard, and the wind just kept swirling the snow around, making it hard to see anything. I just remembered something – I was going through the security check at the airport this morning, and the security guards confiscated my shampoo, conditioner, face wash and face cream! They said that it was their rule not to allow bottles over 50 ml onto the aircraft, but how was I to know that? The last time I was on a plane was in 2005, and I definitely brought many bottles over 50 ml with me in my carry-on. Well, here I am in Edmonton … and I have to say, I’m really glad I came here. After getting lost for about an hour and driving the streets aimlessly, then spending a few hours at the West Edmonton Mall, I am now all set up on a free wireless connection in my hotel room – which, p.s., is swank as hell … and is located right on 100th Ave. It’s a brand new boutique hotel, so not all of the amenities are finished yet (fitness facility and business lounge aren’t completely ready).
