Jobless: heading into the holidays

The interview was weird – in a bad way. It was by far, the most awkward interview I’ve ever had. She started off by asking me to tell her about myself – so I went through my relevant work history, education, and personal qualities, etc. … then she asks “are there any questions you have about this job?” I asked her if she wanted me to hold off on my questions until the end of the interview, and she said no, it was a very informal interview … so I asked my questions … and that was the end of it! So strange! I then had to do two assignments in 45 min., and I was out the door.

I do not feel good about this interview, and the job posting was really misleading in the first place. It sounded like more of a graphic design/event planning position, whereas she explained the job would be 80% writing, and only 20% design. Not something I’m particularly enthusiastic about, especially because writing isn’t exactly my strong point.

I’m pretty sure this marks the end of any job interviews I’ll have for the rest of this year, and any other competitions I’ve applied for will wait until the new year to start calling for interviews. It’s going to be a really stressful and somewhat depressing holiday, what with being unemployed and all, but there’s a lot to be thankful for – my health, my friends and family, and the fact that I have an EF to see me through this situation.

Tomorrow I have a meeting with my boss at the PT job and our friend who she has hired on. She wants me to go over what his duties are going to be and how he’s going to fit in with the team – so that’s a positive. Hopefully everything goes okay, and we can go about our business next week when we all return to work.

Fingers are crossed that by the end of the week, I’ll have all of my paperwork ready to send in for my EI to be processed. I’m leaving for Vancouver on Friday, so I want to get all that cleared off my plate before then.
