Happy Thanksgiving! October 6, 2007
Posted by gmbmfb in : job , trackbackThree months ago, I couldn’t wait to leave my part-time job (then full-time) for that new job. Now that I’m back working full-time hours at the part-time job, I wonder why I ever wanted to leave. Well, besides the fact that it was just a maternity leave contract, that is. Everyone has been very welcoming and understanding. Granted, they’re all curious as to why I’m back, but that’s to be expected.
I told my boss that I had applied for a position in another department, and he seemed really encouraged by it. He said that it’s exactly like the job I have now, doing the exact same things. And when I pointed out my lack of experience (the job posting asked for a Bachelor’s degree and 3-4 years of experience), he pointed out that the job I have now also asked for the same qualifications, which I didn’t have, but I got the job anyway. Hopefully I get an interview! The job closes on the 22nd.
I’ve also been considering moving out of province to find work. At this point, nothing is really tying me to this city, besides my family. I always said I’d like to live somewhere else … because when you live and have grown up in one of the best places to live in the world, you don’t really have a true appreciation for it until you have to live somewhere else. :) I always think people who move out of their city and out of their comfort zone, they’re so brave and adventurous … and I admire that!
Anyway, this is a much-needed long weekend for sure. :) My family is having a Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday. The only thing I have to worry about buying is ingredients to make an apple pie, and a baked pesto-artichoke dip I want to try out.
So, HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone!! Even though I lost my job this week, I have a lot to be thankful for, and I’m grateful to have such supportive people around me. I hope you all have a fabulous long weekend. :)
