It’s interesting, after reading all of your comments from my last entry, I started to think about how I differ from real-life to blog-life in regard to discussing personal finance. I think the lines have blurred a lot since I started writing here, and that’s definitely not what I wanted.

When I first started this blog, it was as an outlet to speak freely about financial matters with like-minded individuals. Over the months, I’ve become so accustomed to typing out exactly how much money I have, how much I earn, how much I save … and for some reason, that’s slowly been transferring over into my real life. I now find that I’m having to catch myself from blurting out how much rent I’m paying, what my pay cheques are like, and how much money I’m saving. Sometimes I end up slipping, like when I mentioned my RRSPs during the round table today.

Because I feel so comfortable writing in this blog, and reading all of your blogs, and having interaction together, I’ve forgotten that personal finance is still a taboo subject with a lot of people, and that it makes some people uncomfortable.

From now on, I’m going to be more careful and watch what I say in real life. Then I’ll just come home and blog about it instead. :)
