I just had my phone interview today for a communications job. It was a short one, and I did better than I did during the fraud marketing interview I had a few weeks ago … but when she asked me what my salary expectations were, I couldn’t help but wonder why she was asking me, if it was a requirement to put it on my cover letter? I told her the salary range again, and then explained how I came to that amount (through research of other similar positions, and because that’s the salary bracket I’m in with my current job). I probably shouldn’t have explained myself, but I was nervous.
Anyway, at the end of the interview, I asked when I would hear from her to see if I was short-listed, she said that if I didn’t hear from her, to call her in about a week. Does that mean I’m not going to be hearing from her? If she were interested, shouldn’t she have just said “in about a week”? Oh well. With the tough job market right now, and for the salary range I’m expecting, at least I’m getting interviews. And I still have 5 months to find another job before this contract runs out. I guess I spoke too soon! I just got called in for a second interview for June 27th! :)
P.S. is it bad that I’ve become obsessed with PPP ever since they announced the $700 opportunities? I’m refreshing the Qualified Opportunities page about every 5 minutes … but I guess that’s what they wanted out of this whole thing. I can’t help but feel like a chump, playing into their marketing scheme … but also, I just want the money!
