Refund and more spending

Well, I returned the silk trimmed tank top that I bought from RW&Co. because 1) I was feeling guilty for having spent so much over the past few weeks, and 2) it’s really too fancy for someone like me to be wearing. I know my goal was to update my look, but I couldn’t really pull it off. Plus, I’m happy that I have $62.15 back on my Visa card. :)

Also yesterday I took my mom out for a belated Mother’s Day lunch, since she’s been busy or away for the past 2 weekends. We went to a yummy sushi restaurant called Yokohama, and it cost me $27 for the both of us.

I got the BF to log into Blue Cross online to see if my claim has been received yet. It’s “in progress,” and he doesn’t think I’ll get it in time for June 5th. It’s not really a problem, because I can pay for it all on my credit card, and then pay off $1,000 of it right away from my EF. The remainder I can just leave on the CC until the refund comes in, or until I get paid on June 8th. I called Visa to make sure if I did this, I wouldn’t incur any interest charges. I still don’t really know how credit cards work. It’s just weird that all the purchases I’ve made over the past two weeks won’t incur any interest until July 1st (statement will come out on June 10th). That seems so far away! Ever since I’ve started caring about getting out of debt, I’ve always paid off the credit card balance in full on the next pay cheque, so I knew for certain I wouldn’t be incurring any interest. But I guess it seems right; statement drops June 10th, and you have until the end of the month to pay it.
